A Sunny Day in Amalfi

In September 2024, I spent four days along the Amalfi Coast. I based myself in Atrani, a short walk from Amalfi. I had hoped to get some nice photos of the area, and I brought several cameras with me including two film cameras. I’ve enjoyed the process of shooting film, which slows me down and makes me think more about composition and light. On this trip, I had my Nikon FG, a thrift store find, plus a Fuji GA645zi medium format film camera. I tend to use them both, depending on the composition and focal length needed.

I had hoped to get a nice shot of Amalfi from the road that hugs the coast between Amalfi and Atrani.  Walking toward Atrani, you go uphill, and you can look back toward Amalfi and see a wonderful view of the town. The only downside is that you’re walking along a narrow road with traffic going by. Here’s the view from that roadway, looking back at a sunny, busy Amalfi:

I’m quite fond of this area of Italy, although this trip was quite hot and busy. Perhaps if i go again, I’ll go in October.
