La Corricella

On my recent trip to Italy, I spent three nights on the island of Procida. Procida is located in the Gulf of Naples and is an easy ferry ride from the port of Naples. The island is small and seemed much quieter than the other areas I visited on my trip. I had last been to Procida in 2019, and it didn’t appear that much had changed. I stayed in a small apartment in Coricella, the marina area where fishing boats and brightly colored buildings combine in a beautiful way.

I had hoped to spend time photographing the area, and staying in Coricella was the best place for that. The buildings are stacked upon each other, rising up from the harbor in blocks of color. The are connected via winding staircases. At the water level, restaurants meet the fishing boats which supply the day’s catch.

There were many beautiful views of this area, and I was very happy with this photo which shows a bit of the water, restaurants, homes, and the Santuario S. Maria delle Grazie Incoronata.

I’ll have a lot more to share from the Amalfi Coast, Procida, and Naples in future posts.  I’ve also just returned from a week in Maine!  It’s been a busy couple of months.
