Superette de La Poste
I recently spent five days in Paris. I was hoping to shoot a lot of film — I’ve been working on a Paris cafes on film project now for two years. I like bright, direct light for these photos. Unfortunately, my time in Paris was mostly cloudy, with some rain here and there.
I was walking with my wife on a rainy evening near the apartment we stayed at in Grenelle, which is a convenient location to base oneself if you want easy access to the metro and the Eiffel Tower area. I looked down a dark street and saw a burst of color — a small market with fruit and vegetables outside. The store had its lights on as it was dark and cloudy. I fired off a few frames on my Sony Rx-100 point and shoot, but I really wanted to return with a film camera.
The next night, I walked over with my Fuji film camera, loaded with Cinestill film. I waited for the sun to go down, then shot this photo, which I like very much:
I also took a photo of this in black and white, which I may share with some other black and white photos. I have a few more night time film photos on Cinestill film that I’ll be sharing in a future post.
