Villa Valdameri Mondadori

During my September 2023 trip to Italy, I spent a morning in Portofino.  I had been staying nearby in Santa Margherita Ligure, just a short bus ride away.  I strategically arrived in Portofino on an early bus, hoping to miss the large crowds that would arrive on the first ferry.

After visiting the town and climbing up to see it from above, I decided to walk along the coast to Paraggi, where I’d catch a return bus.  Walking along the coast, you reach a small cove with a beautiful villa along the blue green water.  Named Villa Valdameri Mondadori, it dates to the early 1900s.  Trying to find some history, it seems like the villa has passed through several prominent Italian families, as well as a stint during WWII when it was taken over by the occupying German forces.

The best view I found was from across the small bay, above a tiny beach.  I took both a digital and a film photo.  I ended up liking the film version better, so I’ve used it on this blog post.
