Valladolid Door Panorama

Over Christmas, my wife and I spent time in the Yucatan region of Mexico.  Specifically, Valladolid, Izamal, and Puerto Morelos.  This is well-trodden territory for me at this point, so I wasn’t expecting to find a lot of new material to take photos of.  Either way, it’s nice to go someplace sunny and warm.  I really like Valladolid, and it had been about six years since my last visit.  We stayed in a small house for a few days.  We toured Ek-Balam, which I hadn’t seen yet.  I did get out and take photos in Valladolid, and what attracted me most were the doors and facades.  I tend to like the more weathered facades, with peeling paint and doors that appear to be hundreds of years old.  I came back with quite a few of these, but I think this one is my favorite.  I liked it so much, I printed a 3 foot long copy of it and framed it.

I’ll have more Valladolid photos coming, plus some photos from Izamal.

Wow, a big print of this one must be awesome. I like the bicycle and the contrast with the brightly painted door. Nice capture. Heading to Merida in a couple of weeks.

Merida is great — I’m jealous (it’s about 10 degrees F here today). Have a great trip!

Your images are stunning. I love how you are drawn to shots that are just next to or around the corner from the obvious photos most others would take!
