Photos from Old Nice

Vieille Ville, or Old Nice, is a neighborhood that hearkens back to times before the automobile, when streets were narrow and cobbled.  The pastel colored buildings hug the streets and have interesting shops and restaurants on the ground level.  Laundry hangs beneath shuttered windows.  Balconies with flowering plants extend living spaces above the traffic below.  Throw away your map when visiting the old town, the twisting and turning streets reward exploration, with surprises around many corners.  Here’s a selection of photos from the area, enjoy!
