The Creepiest Cemetery in Xalapa
For a variety of reasons, I have always enjoyed visiting cemeteries. During my May 2015 trip to Veracruz state in Mexico, I stopped at several. The one I was most interested in was the Antiguo Panteón de Xalapa, located not far from the Centro in Xalapa. I walked to it the first day I was in town, but it was late in the day and the gate was closed and locked. The next day, I went in the morning. This time it was open — but it was raining. The damp, dreary conditions, combined with the general overgrown nature of the cemetery, made it all the more interesting. The wet climate allows lichens and molds to grow all over everything, enhancing the creepiness. Here are a series of photos from the cemetery, I hope you enjoy them.
I like visiting cemeteries as well. They have a peaceful yet mysterious feel to them, especially in the right weather setting. This one looks really nice. Great pictures by the way!
I love cemeteries. The art and architecture. The quiet. Trees etc. Also shows socio-economic population. Come to Green-Wood in Brooklyn.
