The Cemetery in San Cristobal de Las Casas

Returning from Chiapa de Corzo to San Cristobal de Las Casas via colectivo, I saw a cemetery from the road.  It was in town, and looked walkable from my hotel.  The following morning, I left somewhat early to walk there.  Unfortunately, I made a wrong turn and was headed the wrong way out of town (you want to go toward the cuota to Tuxtla), and had to backtrack a bit.  I probably went a mile out of my way, but undeterred, I found it.  So that you don’t get lost, here is a link to the cemetery on Google Earth.

While Mexican cemeteries are not the dark, somber places that American cemeteries are, they are still the resting place of many people, and deserve to be treated with respect.  I take photos, but I try to be discreet, and again, respectful.  Here are some of those photos.  Please click any photo for larger images.
